Cookies are small files stored on your computer when you visit websites. Cookies help make websites work more efficiently by storing information about your preferences. They also provide information about how you use our website and we use this information to try to improve your browsing experience.

We may use cookies to remember personal settings you have chosen on our website. Cookies cannot harm your computer and we do not use cookies to collect information that identifies you personally. If you are happy for us to send cookies to your browser to help us improve user experience, you do not need to do anything. However, if you would prefer to opt out of receiving cookies, you will need to change your browser’s privacy settings.

Most browsers are set to automatically accept cookies. If you are using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari can change your browser settings to block, restrict or delete cookies. Below is a guide on how to do this for each of the four browsers:

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Click the ‘Tools’ icon in the top right-hand corner and select Internet options at the bottom of the list. In the pop-up window, click on the Privacy tab on the top line. You can then adjust your Cookie settings by sliding the bar on the left hand side.

Google Chrome

Click on the top right hand corner box with the three lines. Click on settings. At the bottom of the page click on the blue link “show advanced settings”. Under the Privacy header click on Content settings and adjust Cookies settings.

Mozilla Firefox

From the drop-down menu in the top left-hand corner select ‘Options’. In the pop-up window, select the ‘Privacy’ tab. From here you can adjust your cookie settings.

Safari

From the ‘Settings’ drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner, select ‘Preferences’. Select the ‘Security’ tab and from here you can adjust your cookie settings.

Management of cookies

If you have decided that you don’t want cookies placed on your device, you can alter your web browser settings so that it alerts you when cookies are sent to it, or you can reject cookies altogether. You can also remove cookies that have already been placed.

However, if you wish to restrict or block web browser cookies which are placed on your computer or mobile device, then you can do this through your browser settings in the Help section, located in your browser menu. Here it will explain clearly what to do.

Most web browsers allow easy management of cookies through browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.
